Concept:

Dealing with the idea of creating a meditation space near the Tagus river, I decide to work on the morphology of the site, using the lagoon’s signs as the main inspiration. My idea is to create a walking path inside the lagoon, a horizontal gesture in the landscape, to maintain the pureness of the horizon. Sections and height change along the route. From a height of 350 cm above water level, it reaches 120 cm in the middle part. The upper opening of the sections is constant at 100 cm while the lower part varies in width. In the 120 cm section, the walker’s view reaches the water level, creating the experience of “floating” on water. Meditation then becomes a merging of this unusual situation, linked to the movement of our body along an obligatory path, as a physical translation of the experience of mantra repetition.
