Momentum — Tableware Collection
Inspired by the physical concept of momentum—the quantity of motion carried by a body—the collection explores the idea of mass in movement. Each plate is conceived both as an autonomous object and as part of a larger system, where composition generates a sense of dynamic equilibrium.
Drawing on the Italian tradition of setting the table, where the use of a placemat introduces a layered ritual, the design integrates this “double layer” into a single element. A thick rim embraces and contains the dinner plate, serving as the only point of contact with the surface and allowing the plate’s flat body to appear suspended.
The smaller plate (soup plate) is designed both as a complementary piece and as a standalone object. Its raised rim incorporates the underlying plate, abstracting the placemat into its own geometry. When stacked, the rim of the smaller plate is entirely concealed by the larger one, creating precise elevation alignment. Similarly, the mug—positioned behind—fits within the composition, balancing the visible surfaces of each element.
The decoration is achieved through a high-temperature ceramic decal, enabling a refined graphic language. The illustrations, inspired by TuorloBlue’s recipes, unfold across the set as architectural drawings—plans, elevations, and sections of a single subject—reinforcing the dialogue between object, representation, and system.
